Oubliette, did you read darkspilver's post above? The "Jewish Women" theory doesn't seem to hold water.
yeah...it seems like a Jewish Womens Organizaiton would be named JW.Oy.Vey
it's nice to know that the wts bought the domainname jw.org from the jewish woman assosiation.. g.. .

as the op states why would israel /jewish nation need to have an army at all ?
if they were the chosen people as the bible states under a theocracy , why would the men of israel need an army .?
to protect them ?.
Why would Jehovah need an army?
It's a good question but I have a feeling the JW's would answer this by saying "It was a witness to the surrounding nations for them to see the Israelites being victorious over armies that were much larger than theirs." They love anything that has to do with their image....where they're the martyrs or underdogs who have something to proving to the big bad outsiders.
I'd say it would be just as much of a "Witness" to onlookers, when they realized that anyone who challenged the Israelites, wound up being slaughtered by a band of Angels before they even got close to camp.
I don't recall anything being said about the casualties that the Israelites suffered in any of their battles. It always appeared that no one died or was even injured.
your challenge, if you choose to accept it, is to go onto jw.org.
take one of their pics from any publication and add your own speech bubbles or caption.. here's mine.

i wanted to take an objective look at satan in the story of creation.
this is not meant to offend those of you who are still christians.
i'm agnostic btw.
1) Who *was* supposed to eat the fruit from the tree of life and from the tree of the knowledge of good and bad?
We were always told that eventually Adam and Eve would be allowed to eat of the tree of life.
Anyway, it none of this matter because the whole thing is made up.

So he drove the man out, and he posted at the east of the garden of Eʹden the cherubs and the flaming blade of a sword that was turning continuously to guard the way to the tree of life.
Since steel hadn't been invented yet, what was the sword made of?

Besides the obvious absurdities of the account of Adam and Eve, the questions I always had as a kid were.
Jehovah having to station angels at the entrance of the garden, indicates that without the angels present, Adam and Eve could have snuck in there without God knowing it and eaten from the fruit and have become immortal. If that's the case, what does that say about God being all knowing and all seeing? Doesn't the Bible say that not a sparrow falls to the ground without him knowing about it? Why would he need guards at the entrance of the garden to prevent this?
If God stationed angels at the entrance of the garden of Eden, does that mean there was a wall or fence around the rest of the garden ? Why didn't perfect Adam and Eve go a few miles down from the entrance and climb the wall or devise some way to get at the tree?
What happened to the tree of life...where did it go ? If God go eventually got rid of the tree, why didn't he just do that in the first place instead of stationing angels to protect it and risk the possibility that Adam and Eve might eat from it ?
To me, this story always had more holes in it than Sponge Bob.
the wts has always included minors and adults in the same categories - publisher and baptized.. i am interested in knowing how many minors, approximately, are included in the publisher count.
and, at what age a person started publishing.
what age was the youngest publisher reported?.
I was around 5 when I started counting time and giving talks and got baptized at 17. I can still remember the introduction of my first talk.
we've seen one backflip.
crooked hillary became a hard-working woman who deserves the nations praise (in his victory speech);.
now according to a uk newspaper:.
(sigh).....we shore do need the NuSystem....(sigh)
hello on this beautiful sunday!
just a quick little update to the post i made a few months ago about my mil shunning us.
quick recap: during a convo after she attended the rc and was going on and on about how powerful it was and how great the videos were, blah, blah, blah...i couldn't take it anymore and told her that's not our lives anymore and i didn't want to hear anymore about it and to please respect that and move on to something else to talk about.
As a new grandfather, you have no idea how much it means to be able to see your grandchild until you have one. It was her decision to try and impose the "conditional" love of the Watchtower on your family. If that's the case, your "condition" is that the love of your family comes as a package deal. If she wants to see your children, she's got to treat the rest of you like she would any other family member.
JW's expect everyone to tip-toe around their religious sensibilities while they bulldoze their way over yours. I don't like the idea of your kids not being able to know their grandparent but you didn't choose this. If you don't draw the line, this she'll have the upper hand and the convoluted on again off again shunning nonsense will be never ending.
i was doing some research and noticed that the baptism questions were changed several times over the years.
the questions in 1973 were as follows: *** w73 5/1 280 baptizing follows discipling *** if you feel the same about serving jehovah god and taking christs yoke upon you, we suggest that you consider the following two questions, which are asked of candidates for baptism:.
(1) have you repented of your sins and turned around, recognizing yourself before jehovah god as a condemned sinner who needs salvation, and have you acknowledged to him that this salvation proceeds from him, the father, through his son jesus christ?
It would seem to me that if as they claim, Jehovah is an exacting God and if they were directed by him to change the original baptism questions, it must mean that those of us who were previously baptized without stating that we recognized that our baptisms made us Jehovah's Witness, may not technically be Jehovah's Witnesses at all . If that's the case, what does that mean for those who were DF'd when they weren't technically JW's in the first place? What about all those folks who married someone who wasn't technically a baptized JW?
Maybe this is a loophole that someone could use during a Judicial hearing.
